POD utility
One of the most important utilities for Fly! is a POD utility because almost all Fly! files are contained into POD archives. So if you want to edit them, you really need it. POD file extension is ".epd" and contain files for defining aircrafts, maps, ...

PBM utilities
Most of Fly! images are stored in PBM (for static images) and PBG (for "animated" needles, gauges, ...) files. These are packed bitmaps to save memory and space on disk. PBM utilities help you to convert files from PBM or PBG to RAW format (and soon from RAW to PBM or PBG), so that you can view PBM files in a graphical editor and save you images in PBM or PBG format.
- My first one is pbm2raw. It converts PBM and PBG files to RAW files.
- More useful is to convert RAW files to PBM or PBG files so you can see them in Fly! Here's raw2pbm.
Both utilities now do the same as TRI's raw2pbm and pbm2raw for PC
BIN utilities
Fly! 3D models are stored in BIN files. To make your own models in Fly!, you need a BIN converter utility. That's what I decided to program here. As a source format, I chose DXF, because DXF is a widely used 3D format. It can be read and written by almost all 3D programs.
- My first utility is bin2dxf. It converts BIN files to DXF files. It's still an alpha version (see the README file). To get a PC ZIP file, click rather here
- My second utility is dxf2bin. It converts DXF files to BIN files. It's still an alpha version (see the README file). To get a PC ZIP file, click rather here
Fly Database utilities
DatabaseEditor v1.0 beta2 allows you to browse and edit Fly databases located in Fly's System folder :
- Airports (AIRPORT.EPD)
- Runways (RUNWAY.EPD)
- Navigation aids (NAVAID.EPD)
- ILS (ILS.EPD)
- COMMs (COMM.EPD)
- Waypoints (WAIPOINT.EPD)
- Obstructions (OBSTRUCT.EPD)
And here's the PC version: DatabaseEditor
Notes:
- This is a beta version but is fully functionnal.
- You need the Swing Java library to run this editor. Read the README file contained with DatabaseEditor to know what to do with this library.
- You need also the Java Collections library to run this editor. Read the README file contained with DatabaseEditor to know what to do with this library.
Aircraft Editor
Release Candidate 1 is here!
Main additions are:
- an installer
- PRP file editing
- CKL file editing
- speed and memory improvements
- fixed miscellaneous bugs
This is still not release 1... I have less and less time to spend on this utility and it's difficult to find testers :-( I'd be very glad if you could help me in testing this program.
You can see snapshots of the editor here.
To download it, click here.
READ CAREFULLY THE ENCLOSED README FILE!!!
Documentation about the files edited by AircraftEditor can be found in Paul Russel's SVH file documentation
